How to Play Roulette

Roulette is one of the games that offer excitement to the players. The game is simple with relatively easier rules to follow. It can be a reliable source of income for serious betters. But one must learn how to play this thrilling game before they take on the house. Here are a few tips on how to play the game.

The first thing you must do in your endeavour to play the game is to learn the basics. Interact with the equipment and ensure that you know it well. Roulette is played on a wheel that has a 0 and numbers 1- 36.  You will be required to pick your bets before the croupier sends a ball spinning on the table. The ball will land on the slots that correlate to the bets and determines whether you win or lose your bet.

Inside bets

You will need to learn about the inside bets. It will help you anticipate the slot on which the ball is likely to land. So, you can choose to make the inside bet or on specific numbers you believe has the highest bet.

Straight up – it allows you to bet on a single number and pays 1:35

Split betting – you bet on two numbers that pay 17:1

Street betting – it refers to betting on 3 numbers that pay 11 to 1.

It is possible to bet on three numbers with a single chip. You will do this by placing the chip at the end of the row of any three numbers. It pays 11 to 1 while a person who bets on 4 numbers expect the pay from 8 to 1. To bet on four numbers, you allow the chip to lie where the selected 4 numbers intersect.  You can also choose 6-line betting where you place your bet on 6 numbers that pay 5-1. The American roulette allows for a 5 –number bet that covers numbers 3, 2, 1, 00, 0. This type of abet pays 6:1. Bets on 00 bet which also covers 0 pay 17:1

Outside bets

They are bets that may not involve specific numbers. The bets are normally placed outside the number map. They include:

Colour betting – here you choose to bet on either black or red. It pays 1:1

Betting on twelve numbers (column betting)- it pays 2:1

Odd or even betting – it pays 1 to 1

Dozen betting – it targets the first 1-12 numbers and pays 2:1

Notice that in all casino betting, the house will always have an edge. The French wheel has ‘’0’’ that gives the house an edge while the America roulette has ‘’00’’ that gives it the edge. In roulette with a single ‘0’, the house has an upper hand of 2.7% while the American roulette with ‘’00’’ gives the house an edge of 5.26%. Given this scenario, some French tables have rules that tend to help out the players. Some of these rules include the ‘’En Prison rule’’ and ‘’La Partage rule’’. The En Prison rule allows the player to collect half their bet when they lose. While the La Partage rule allows them to leave half their bets to take part in the next spin.
